Portfolio > Paintings: Oil, Watercolor, and Acrylic

This is a sneak peek at my thesis project for senior year. I’m experimenting with the idea of the female gaze on the human body. I’m working to stop the sexualization and objectification of women in art. This is a subject that I have been dealing with throughout my college career and rethinking how I represent women in art. This piece is watercolor on Yupo. The collage aspect breaks the traditional male perspective, while the colors and textures offer the understanding that the body holds personality. The black pieces are the negative space from which the pieces were cut. The positions of the bodies are relatable and lived in, giving the parts autonomy.
